Red Wing Adult Release Routes

The adult unit at MCF–Red Wing is a Level 2 minimum-security unit operated by the Minnesota Department of Corrections. A resident there has entered the state corrections system through a commitment to the Commissioner. That fact controls the record path. The Goodhue County Adult Detention Center roster neither tracks the state placement nor preserves a later state-prison release.

Leaving the adult unit can mean a move to another DOC facility. It can also mean release from the institution to community supervision. A person on supervised release has left prison but remains under DOC jurisdiction for the rest of the state sentence. Conditional release adds a required period in cases governed by the relevant statute. Full discharge comes later, when the responsible state jurisdiction ends. Each event needs its own label.

Search Red Wing Adult Releases

The MN DOC Public Viewer is the first public lookup for an adult committed to the Commissioner. DOC says its search contains people in prison and people released from prison who remain under state supervision. That scope makes it useful for a Red Wing Adult Unit resident who entered the community but has not reached full discharge.

1. Search by the person’s name and use the MN DOC offender identification number when known.
2. Open the matching record and compare identity details rather than relying on a similar name.
3. Read current status, location, supervision, sentence, and release fields as separate facts.
4. Distinguish a facility transfer from community supervision and full discharge.
5. If no record appears, check the Goodhue court case and request the historical DOC offender record.

The viewer is not a universal Minnesota arrest database. It does not confirm a person who left the Goodhue County jail on bail without a state commitment. It also may not retain a fully discharged person because DOC frames the public tool around current jurisdiction. A non-result must be tested against the court judgment and DOC Records.

Red Wing Adult Release Framework

Minnesota uses a determinate sentence structure for most fixed executed felony sentences for crimes committed after August 1, 1993. Under Minnesota Statutes section 244.05, the ordinary structure places part of the sentence in prison and the rest on supervised release. Research for Goodhue identifies the baseline as two-thirds imprisonment and one-third supervised release. Minnesota is not governed by a broad 85-percent shortcut.

The baseline is not a personal release calculation. Life and indeterminate sentences, mandatory minimum terms, consecutive sentences, conditional-release periods, discipline, court corrections, jail credit, and special programs can change the path. Eligible earned incentive release credits may affect institutional time, but section 244.44 caps those credits and does not shorten the total supervised-release term. The DOC’s displayed date remains a projection until the actual release event occurs.

An added statutory community term that applies to specified cases.

Red Wing Adult Special Releases

Not every adult at a Minnesota prison follows an ordinary fixed-sentence path. The Minnesota Supervised Release Board has limited jurisdiction over defined groups, including eligible life and older indeterminate sentences and certain specified youth cases. It is not a routine parole board for every Red Wing Adult Unit resident. For an ordinary modern fixed sentence, Public Viewer, the sentence, and the DOC calculation are the correct starting points.

When a case falls within the Board’s scope, use the official Board overview and its regularly updated schedule. A review may assign a projected date or continue the matter with directives. The Board cannot release a person before the applicable minimum term. Meeting materials, approved minutes, and recordings can supply decision context, while the individual DOC record supplies current custody or supervision status.

Red Wing Adult Release Records

DOC Records Management is the fallback when Public Viewer no longer resolves the question. A focused request should identify the adult by full name and offender ID, give an approximate commitment or release period, and ask for existing public fields. Useful fields include commitment date, facility release date, release type or status, supervising office, end of supervision, final discharge, and any public sentence-calculation record.

No flat release-record charge or promised turnaround was found in the Goodhue research. Ask for a fee and time estimate. Privacy, safety, and data classification rules may limit portions of the record. DOC must provide access as law allows, but it need not write a custom account or compute a new answer for the requester.

Goodhue State Release Court Records

A person may serve at Red Wing even though the state placement began with a Goodhue County conviction. The Goodhue criminal case is the cross-check for the warrant of commitment, sentence, later amendments, and court orders. Minnesota Court Records Online can expose case details, dispositions, and the register of actions when those documents fall within public online access.

MCRO does not replace the DOC release record. A docket may show the sentence without recording the minute the adult left the institution. Conversely, DOC status does not explain every court amendment. Compare the Minnesota Court Records Online case with Public Viewer and the requested offender record. Sealed, expunged, restricted, older, or nonelectronic material may not appear online.

Red Wing Adult Release Alerts

Minnesota uses different notification systems for county and state custody. County-jail VINE covers Goodhue Adult Detention Center events. It should not be presented as the prison alert system for Red Wing Adult Unit residents. Minnesota DOC directs custody and community-supervision notifications to Minnesota Haven through its Victim Assistance Program.

A notification can document a custody change near the event, while the offender record remains the better source for a durable release or discharge fact.

Red Wing Adult Unit Contact

The adult unit shares the MCF–Red Wing campus with the juvenile facility, but the records and population must remain distinct. Use the adult unit’s official DOC page for current facility information. Direct historical release questions to Records Management, not to Goodhue Sheriff Records. The county office owns local ADC transactions, while DOC owns state commitment, placement, supervision, and discharge.

Confirm Red Wing Adult Destination

A correct final statement names both the event and the destination. “Transferred to another DOC facility,” “released to state supervision,” and “fully discharged” are not interchangeable. Public Viewer is strongest while jurisdiction remains active. DOC Records and the court case become more important after jurisdiction ends.

If the person was never committed to the Commissioner, stop using the adult state-unit path. A local bail or time-served release belongs to Goodhue ADC, VINE, Sheriff Records, and the court.
